Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists focus on restoring physical and cognitive capabilities needed to perform activities of daily living. They assess the patient’s personal self-care, work and leisure; and provide modified techniques with adaptive equipment as necessary to promote independence. Occupational Therapists are experts at assessing physical and functional status of upper extremities, developing treatment programs addressing restoration and or maintenance of capabilities. They work to reduce patient limitations by:

  • Improving muscle strength and flexibility
  • Desensitizing painful areas
  • Improving behavioral skills
  • Cognitive re-training
  • Teaching self-care skills
  • Re-training of activities of daily living
  • Introducing community re-entry skills

 

Physical Therapy

Our Physical Therapists focus on restoring coordination, balance, strength, endurance, and joint flexibility to achieve optimum functional mobility. Physical Therapists are experts at assessing physical and functional status of the lower body, developing treatment programs addressing restoration and or maintenance of physical capabilities. Through patient education, physical therapists teach patients to focus on health, wellness, and prevention strategies. Treatment interventions include:

  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Gait training
  • Heat and cryotherapy
  • Electrotherapy
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Massage and joint mobilization
  • Relaxation

 

Speech Therapy

Our Speech Therapists focus on restoring communication abilities. Communication problems are addressed by helping patients improve skills in speaking, listening, thinking, reading, writing, problem solving, organizing, and sequencing skills. Speech Therapists also assess swallowing difficulties and develop treatment regimes to assist patients with this condition, which left untreated often leads to respiratory problems. Our Speech Therapists treat:

  • Articulation deficits and stuttering
  • Hearing loss
  • Laryngectomy
  • Language and voice disorders
  • Aphasia, Dysarthria, Apraxia
  • Cognitive communication disorders
